People say you should write what you love. Lena follows
that dictate. To get a taste for what she loves to write,
take a look at what she loves to read. Below is a list of
some of her favorite books and the wonderful authors who
wrote them.
Tracy Montoya
Hands down, there
is no better author of romantic suspense than Tracy
Montoya. Period. Tracy's books open with a bang and
leave you on the edge of your seat until you turn
the last page. Her book, Finding His Child, was
chilling, riveting, and so emotional, Lena had to
grab a box of Kleenex. She LOVED IT! This author is
hot, hot, hot and definitely on the way up.
Gail Ranstrom
Lena loves Gail Ranstrom's historicals as much as
she loves Tracy Montoya's romantic suspense. Gail is
a worldclass author with the perfect 'voice' for
historicals. But these aren't your typical
predictable regencies. Her books will always
surprise you and keep you enthralled. Her plots are
complex and well-thought out. Her characters are so
well-developed you'll swear they are real. Pick up
any book by Gail Ranstrom and you won't be
disappointed. Lena's personal favorite is
Indiscretions. Or maybe The Rake's Revenge.
Or....okay, she loves them ALL!!!
Sherrilyn Kenyon
You can’t
go wrong with a book by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Any book. They
are all amazing stories with characters who will live inside
your head and your heart long after you turn the last page.
Sherrilyn’s Dark-Hunter books are steamy with a delightful
sense of humor.
Christine Feehan
Emotional, sexy, wow. Christine’s books hit you with a
bang, suck you in and won’t let go until the end. Her
heroes are alpha, with a tender, protective side they
reserve for their lifemates. Lena recommends the Dark
series, a unique blend of the familiar Carpathian vampire
legends with Christine’s own unique twist.
Lynn Kurland
Travel
back in time to a world filled with gallant knights and
enchanting castles. Lynn Kurland weaves entertaining
time-travel tales about strong, modern heroines and their
medieval, exasperating but sexy heroes. Favorites include
THE MORE I SEE YOU, THIS IS ALL I ASK (you will cry, this
one is so touching!), A DANCE THROUGH TIME and STARDUST OF
YESTERDAY.
Julie Garwood
Lena has never read a Julie
Garwood novel she didn’t love. They are all keepers.
Julie’s focus is on family and loyalty and she sprinkles in
her own blend of humor. You will laugh out loud one minute
and cry the next as you experience the unique flavor of a
Garwood story. Lena’s favorites are the historicals with
their yummy Highlander heroes. Try THE WEDDING, THE BRIDE,
RANSOM and SAVING GRACE.
Linda
Howard
An
amazing contemporary author, Linda Howard writes romantic
suspense like no other. Many of her books have a paranormal
twist. All of them have characters that come to life and
jump off the page. Lena recommends SON OF THE MORNING (a
classic time-travel!), NOW YOU SEE HER, MR PERFECT and DREAM
MAN. If Linda Howard has a website, she hides it well.
Lena hasn’t been able to find it. But she couldn’t resist
adding Linda’s name to her list of favorite authors. Go to
your nearest bookstore and buy a Linda Howard novel! You
won’t regret it.
Janet Chapman
Highlanders, magic and time travel. Who can resist? In
these stories, the heroes are brought forward in time and
have to learn to survive in the modern world. Lena
recommends all of the books in the Highlander series, but
CHARMING THE HIGHLANDER is her favorite.
Susan
Carroll aka Serena Richards aka Susan Coppula
THE
BRIDEFINDER and THE NIGHTDRIFTER. Amazing, heart warming
books. In one, the hero can move objects with his mind and
foresee the future, but at a great cost to himself. In the
other, the hero can separate his spirit from his body and
drift through the night like a ghost. Both books follow the
legends of the St. Leger family. Incredible stories. Lena
has these on her keeper shelf and often re-reads them.
Susan’s website is mysteriously elusive, so go to your local
bookstore to try this incredible award-winning author.
Kathleen E. Woodiwiss
The
original queen of romance, Kathleen Woodiwiss’s early works
are classics that are still beautiful, touching stories even
in light of how much has changed over the years in the
romance genre. Lena grew up reading these historicals and
she treasures them to this day. The Woodiwiss novels that
Lena loves and recommends are A ROSE IN WINTER (Christopher
is to die for!), ASHES IN THE WIND (Excellent! Civil war
tear-jerker) and SHANNA.

Charlie Alldredge
for paranormal romance.
Sheila Athens for
contemporary romantic fiction.
Marie Bellevaux
for paranormal &
historical romance.
~Also writing erotic romance as Marianne LaCroix.
